Things to do in Bath Maine this weekend, July 15-17, 2022
Hello! If you have been in, or are coming to Maine around about this time, go ahead and buy a lottery ticket because you have been VERY lucky with the weather! So lovely! If you are wondering “What is the weather like in Bath Maine?” The answer is: AMAZING! We have two tours this weekend - Dowtown Bath Friday at 4pm and Saturday at 9:30am. And so much else!
Friday, from 4-7pm, Art Hop returns to downtown Bath. A mix of eclectic artists will be showing their wares all over Front Street. Beer garden too! At 7pm, the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra is performing at the Gazebo at City Park (aka Library Park).
Saturday - all day is a special day - one of our elementary schools, Dike Newell, which serves K-2 students, was destroyed in an arson fire right before the last week of school. I am the librarian at the 3-5 school and we hosted the little ones in our playground for a sort of “last week of school/camp” experience. It was so fun! They have secured a space for next year (the old Bath Tech building) but funds - especially to replace what teachers and staff lost - are still up in the air. So, our local golf course and restaurant - Bath Golf Club and Long Reach Kitchen - are hosting a massive fundraiser with golf, music, a silent auction, food and drink, kids’ activities, and an all-around fun time. We are auctioning off some tour tickets as a part of the silent auction- why not support a good cause? The food at Long Reach Kitchen is spectacular (see photo), the drinks even better, so you can’t go wrong.
Saturday pm Change of scene! Join the gang in the parking lot (!) at a concert outdoors at the renovation-in-progress Grant Building. Squint your eyes a bit and you might think you are in NYC in this very cool + gritty setting behind Bath’s majestic downtown buildings.
Saturday night (and Sunday night) Check out the Camden Shakespeare Festival performance of As You Like It at 6pm both evenings. Who needs Shakespeare in the (Central) Park? (Oh! That’s two NYC references!) We have Shakespeare in Library Park! This is a ticketed event (not free) but well worth it! And, really, truly, the arts deserve all we can give them.
Sunday morning I’d head to Mae’s Cafe for breakfast/brunch (alcohol is served!). I haven’t been including a ton of dining recs on these posts lately, but instead focusing on special events. So be sure to check out my previous posts for dining and shopping recs.
Sunday afternoon, The Pejeobscot History Center, the historical society in Brunswick (the town next door and an integral part of Bath history) is hosting a walking tour! I am out of town so I am a-ok encouraging you to go! If the tour sells out, they have two historical homes with hours on Tuesdays - Saturdays.
Have a wonderful weekend!
