Things to do in Bath, Maine this weekend, June 9th-11th, 2023
This week, some tour participants from Illinois told me they picked Maine as their vacation destination after Googling “Great places to visit in June”. I agree! Good/decent weather, places are open, less crowded. After some rain outs last weekend, we have an extra packed weekend coming up in Bath, Maine.
This Saturday is the Centre Street Block Party hosted by all the businesses on/around the street. Some of the shops there are celebrating milestone birthdays (Cafe Creme), others are just getting started (Solo Pane). It promises to be a good time for all, with a real mix of activities from 3pm-9pm. (A quiet moment on Centre Street is pictured above; on one of my tours, a participant got us all some sustenance from Bath Sweet Shoppe mid-tour!) There will be food trucks, live music, a Marvel-themed bounce house, stand up comedy and more. Check out a local trivia contest at Byrnes Irish Pub - coinciding with Bath’s Morse High School’s annual reunion. In fact, many of the downtown businesses’ storefronts will be decorated in Morse Shipbuilder blue and white! What a great way to soak up some local history and fun!
Also on Saturday, Now You’re Cooking, which is just off Centre Street is hosting a grand opening for their new kitchen. There will be demos, snacks and wine tasting. (They are also having a cider tasting Thursday, June 8th.) More about all their events here.
On Sunday, the Caravan Artist Market is using their rain date and returning to the Waterfront Park, from 11am-4pm. (Check their Facebook for updates and the vendor lineup.) This market is curated by Nikki Pilgrim, a talented artist herself and Bath resident (I teacher her daughter!). Bring all your $$ as you will want one of everything! Sunday at 4pm in the Gazebo at City (aka LIbrary) Park, also rescheduled after last weekend’s rain out, a taste of all the summer music to come with the Morse High School Rock Band. Maybe they’ll play some oldies!
On Sunday evening, enjoy the beautiful weather right on the Kennebec when the Maine Maritime Museum (along with Chocolate Church) hosts Erica Brown and the Bluegrass Connection for an outdoor concert beginning at 6pm. This fabulous band played here last summer - I can’t wait!
Embark Maine Tours will be offering our normal schedule of tours this weekend. Our Downtown Tour at 4pm Friday and 9:30am Saturday. Our Historic Neighborhood Tour on Sunday at 11am. See you out and about!
PS - We are just over three weeks from Bath’s July 4th Celebration, Heritage Days 2023. Take a look at the schedule!
