Things to do in Bath, Maine this weekend, June 16th-18th

Hello! This school librarian has one more week till summer but things are really ramping up in Bath!

At 3:30 Friday, June 16th, the Patten Free Library hosts the Guinean drummer Sayon Camara for some get up and dance music in the Gazebo at Library Park. It is part of their summer event series aimed toward kids but promises to be fun for all.

Bath Pride events kick off Friday as well - our first ever PRIDE festival. On Friday, from 4-7pm, join the crowd at Waterfront Park for a plethora of performance events! Bath Art Hop, with a special PRIDE focus, runs throughout downtown with artists and others selling their wares on the sidewalks, and Bath’s galleries will be open late as well. The City has also launched a special edition of our iconic flag, painted a rainbow sidewalk and posted PRIDE flags all over town (see pic above) to celebrate and support our community. Way to go Bath!

Do you fancy a night at the theater? Chocolate Church Arts Center, presents Rumors, by Neil Simon. The cast is filled with a talented crew who will have you laughing all night. Opening night is this Friday, June 16th at 7:30pm with additional performances on Saturday and Sunday, this weekend and next.

Any new store or restaurant in Bath gets buzz, but the buzz for this one has been HUGE! Opening their doors for the first time this Saturday, June 17th (11am-8pm on Sunday as well) and doubling (from only 1 to 2) our waterfront (!) dining options, OystHERS Raw Bar & Bubbly will serve beer, wine, cocktails and small plates as well. They are located on 97 Commercial Street, just north of Waterfront Park (part of the larger Bathport building complex) and will have a riverfront deck on the Kennebec! Sister-owned, the proprieters are Maine folk, who also happen to own a oyster farm, and know exactly what the people want! They’ll be open 7 days a week throughout the summer.

Summer music in Library Park launches Tuesday, June 20th at 6:30pm! We will feature this series more in depth next week, but it starts this Tuesday with the Bath Swing Band! Music. Every. Tuesday. and. Friday. in. Library. Park. ALL SUMMER!

As always, please check out our full tour schedule (scroll down for a full calendar view(- hope to see you out and about in Bath!
