Things to do in Bath, Maine this weekend, July 7th -July 9th 2023

Bath this weekend is a little bit like the going away brunch after a big wedding weekend. After 5 + days of events surrounding Heritage Days (the + is for the fireworks which were postponed a day) we are catching up on our sleep, brushing off the hangover and gearing up for “normal” summer level of activity. The sun has even come out! Back at it!

Friday evening at 6:30, join the crowd at Library Park where singer/songwriter Jim Sharkey will be performing Irish Folk in the Gazebo for a free concert. How fitting, as Bath was a destination for many Irish immigrants in the 1840s and 50s heyday. You could begin your evening on our Downtown Tour (special start time of 5:30) and learn more about a related and significant event in history, which happened in Bath exactly 169 years ago this week.

Saturday morning, July 8th, the Bath Farmers’ Market is at Waterfront Park from 8:30-noon. There will be tomatoes! Saturday evening, also at Waterfront Park. the summer concert series kicks off at 5pm with Crystal Vision, a Fleetwood Mac Tribute Artist. Grab a picnic and a blanket and enjoy the throwback sounds, and dance a little (or a lot)! Or, if sea shanties and pirate fun is more your speed, check out the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse’s Pirate Day event in Georgetown, which begins at 6pm. Food and drink available for purchase.

Sunday at 11am, we are running our Washington Street Neighborhood Tour - find out what resident Civil War sweethearts wrote to one another after the Battle of Antietam; who took the Lusitania to retrieve her daughters from Berlin; and where President Benjamin Harrison stayed when he came to inspect the work being done at Bath Iron Works! Hope to see you out and about in Bath this weekend.
